Rio Grande in Charleston

I tried the Nacho's with chicken and they were a messy Delight! Peppers, onions, and a cheesy sauce to know them all together that was out of this world good! You can pick the veggies you want or don't want. I'll be having this again!

I met a friend at Rio Grande for lunch. The restaurant was clean. Our server was prompt, but not at all friendly. We ordered and the food was on the table in no time. It was really good. I would definitely make another visit there.

I'm a regular at this place and usually visit once a week with my family. Even when visiting on a busy Friday or Saturday night the wait to be seated is very short. Also they're very quick to get your order out once placed. Food is priced well and very good in my opinion.

I love this caldo de pollo. The service is good too. I would not recommend the churros. They don't necessarily have all flavors of the agua fresca listed on the menu. They play Latin music on Sirus radio which sets a mood.

Wow I really enjoyed this place. I came here around 4:00pm on a Monday . The waitress was so sweet and made great recommendations. I always judge A good Mexican restaurant off of the salsa and margaritasI had a strawberry margarita - very good and the salsa had a lot of flavor. I ordered the number 15 two tamales and a hard taco .. The tamales were really good, The crunchy taco was just OK. I make far better taco but it wasn’t bad. :)It was hot and filling . Over all I had a good experience and I would recommend giving this place a try. Oh and it offers a separate bar area really pretty cute. Did I say how sweet the waitress ( Olivia) was! I love the staff and drive all the way from Ediisto island 45 miles to get toco salads. The best I've ever had. Just love it.

This place has good food and quick service. My only 2 complaints are that it's cold inside and I wish the waiter would have asked what size Margarita I wanted instead of just going for the big one. My fault for not telling him, but I wish he wouldn't have just assumed.

The restaurant itself was nice, we went as soon as they opened and had our choice of pleasant outside seating. The food was in excellent proportion to their price. I couldn’t give it 5 stars because our waiter was so impatient and lax. I couldn’t help but notice the other waitresses were friendly, accommodating and sweet and ours was... well, just barely there...

Rio Grande also named Rio Chico was very good. They had very big portions for good prices. The refried bean has a lot of flavor and so does the rice. They give you refried beans, rice, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, and lettuce with the pallia fajita which comes with chicken, shrimp, chorizo, pulled pork, and steak all for 14.99. We also got the burrito californiano it had bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomato, steak, ranchero sauce, and queso. It also came with rice , refried beans, pico de gallo, guacamole, and lettuce. The queso was a little runny but the flavor was still great. We got our food within 10 minutes of ordering. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting good Mexican food. The pictures I am posting is after we ate about half of our meal and already got full. Thank you Rio Chico for the great experience.

This is our FAVORITE Mexican restaurant in Charleston, SC...the food is always fresh, plentiful, and a great value. The menu is extensive, the decor is fun, and the staff are friendly and experienced. We’ve eaten here weekly for 10+ years and have never been disappointed! Sure, sometimes you have to wait for a table on Friday or Saturday night, but the wait is usually not too long, and it’s worth it! You will not be disappointed eating here!

Great Mexican food at a good price with HUUGE portions. I'm a big guy that can eat and the chicken fajita was too much for me. Their "medium" Margarita is what most places would call a large. Overall a great experience.

Fast. Good. And filling. We love Rio Chico and recently discovered one close to use. We went there on a rainy cold night. It was warm and not too busy. The drinks, chips, and salsa proceeded the meal and we were able to quickly order. Before we had even finished one basket of chips, our meal came out and was ready. It is fast, fresh, and filling. I ordered a burrito and boy was it big. It was delicious and we will be returning. This is hands down our favorite Mexican restaurant in Charleston. We have eaten at the James Island and West Ashley locations and they are both excellent.

Rio has an amazingly extensive menu, all of which consists of fresh and delicious foods. For any given order, they give you so much food! I especially love pollo asada plate, any of the enchiladas, taquitos are a perfect snack, and their margaritas are big and delicious :) the staff is super kind and attentive. 10/10 would recommend!

I like the former name...Rio Grande...now it is called Rio Chico. We ate in the newly renovated bar area. Very pleasant. Food and drinks were good. It is my favorite Mexican restaurant.
